Description: The ‘Les Suete’ winds can blow for days, so there’s nothing else to do but celebrate together. #TheNatureOfThings #WildCanadianWeather • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • On Canada's east coast, winds blowing off the Atlantic can reach incredible speeds. They are the strongest winds in the country and have been recorded at 233 km/h! 'Les Suetes,' as they're known by the locals, make normal life impossible. "120km/h, that's not a big deal, but when it starts getting to 150km/h, the dishes in the cupboard are rattling." - Robert Deveaux When the gales are gusting this strong, the best option is to hunker down and throw a party. But Les Suetes can sometimes blow for days, so "you have to make sure that you only invite people you like," says Robert Deveaux. "There is a real possibility that they might stay for a few days!"
